Diabetes Self-Management Education Classes

Studies prove that diabetics who control their blood sugar have FAR FEWER serious complications. Successful self-management is an on-going process and actively involves the person with diabetes, the physician and a specially-trained diabetes educator.

The following 2 hour classes at the Topeka Pharmacy are taught by diabetes educators Morag Miller, RPh and Connie Lehman, RD . They provide the facts, encouragement and support you need to bring and keep your blood sugar into target levels.

Class #2 More about Eating Well with Diabetes In Depth

Class #3 Medications, Exercise and Prevention of Hyper and Hypoglycemia

Class #4 Personal Session with the Dietitian: Nutrition Assessment and Meal Plan

Class #5 Coping with Diabetes Now and Avoiding Complications Later

Making an Appointment

Patients may come into the program for individual or group instruction. You may be referred by your physician or you may come in as a self-referral. Medicare may pay for this service. The costs for paying cash are: $50/hour for individual sessions, $30/hr for group sessions. We prefer to schedule patients into a 4:15pm time slot, but we can work you into another time slot if this does not fit your schedule.
